The main purpose of installing the indicator light is to protect the brush roll from potential damage, as it alerts the users of the potential problems the brush roll may be encountering.
That means, when the indicator light is green, then everything is functioning properly.
But when the indicator light is red, then it’s not working properly, and either blocked, overheating or encountering an irregular error.
Blockage or overheating can be fixed in a certain way each, and we’ve covered each problem with different guides.
However, the problem is worse when there’s not even an indicator light, then how will you even notice a problem, if there is no alert whatsoever?
Here’s a video by shark explaining the idea behind installing a Shark Vacuum Brush Roll Indicator Light:
Why Is Shark Vacuum Brush Roll Indicator Light Not On?
There are multiple causes that can create a disastrous situation, such as when Shark Vacuum Brush Roll Indicator Light Not On, and those causes include:
1. Power Modes are Put in an Incorrect Position
2. A Broken Brush Roll Belt
3. Blocked Brush Roll
4. Overheating Shark Vacuum
5. The Vacuum Nozzle Is Attached Improperly
1. Power Modes are Put in an Incorrect Position
There are 2 modes for choosing the power mode the vacuum should run with, the I & II modes.
The I mode wouldn’t turn on the indicator light until the brush roll starts running, while the II mode will give the brush roll full running power, meaning the indicator light would be on regardless of your movement with the vacuum.
This means that using the correct power mode will enable your indicator light, or will disable it until you use a proper mode accordingly.
2. A Broken Brush Roll Belt
Since the brush roll is operated by two belts connected to the two light bulb indicators, then a broken brush roll belt will not enable the light to work properly.
The best fix would be to replace the broken rush roll belt with a new one, but you’ll need to make sure you’re ordering the correct belt for your shark vacuum model.
Not only that, but you’ll need to install it properly according to your model’s user manual, to avoid any misstep while installing it.
As long as you feel you’re a master of removing and installing a broken vacuum part, don’t forget to check our guide on how to take apart shark vacuum.
3. Blocked Brush Roll
A fully blocked rush roll won’t have the brush roll’s indicator light on, as the power can’t properly flow to the indicator light.
The proper fix would be to use a small brush and remove debris trapped inside the roll.
However, don’t do that out of the bat, make sure you’ve turned off the vacuum, and detached the brush roll properly, before attending to removing the debris as mentioned.
4. Overheating Shark Vacuum
You’ve never heard of an overheating device that’s still properly functioning, have you?
I don’t think so, so won’t the overheating shark vacuum as having an overheating issue is one of the most common causes of a shark vacuum brush roll indicator light not on.
If your machine is operating on a pretty high temperature, nearly nothing would work properly.

5. The Vacuum Nozzle Is Attached Improperly
The vacuum’s nozzle can be located at the end of the vacuum hose, and is attached to the suction head that has the brush roll installed inside it, in addition to the motor that drives the latter.
If this long line of connections isn’t properly attached, then the head might not receive any power, and the brush roll indicator light won’t be on.
To fix it, make sure to line the nozzle with the suction head and push it firmly onto the head.
